The Eufore project (The European Forest Research and Innovation Ecosystem) aims to create a sustainable, transnational, and co-creative environment to define, implement, and evaluate a research and innovation roadmap focused on Europe’s forest value chains. The challenge was to design a website that not only reflected these objectives but also visually conveyed the connection between research, innovation, and sustainability in the European forestry sector.
The website’s design was based on the project’s existing logo, which featured a repeating pattern of trees with a color gradient transitioning from orange to blue, passing through shades of yellow and green. These colors and patterns became the foundation of the site’s visual development. The tree motifs from the logo were creatively integrated with forest imagery in the background, reinforcing the project’s connection to forestry.
Additionally, we designed line drawings representing people and environments, symbolizing the interaction between humans and ecosystems. These illustrations emphasized the project’s co-creative and collaborative approach, adding a visual layer that complemented the themes of sustainability and innovation in Europe’s forests.
Patterns with photos and lines were strategically used in the website headers, giving each section a unique yet cohesive identity. They were also incorporated into infographics and data visualizations throughout the site, reinforcing Eufore’s visual identity and making complex technical information more accessible and engaging.
Through this design approach, the website became more than just an informational platform for the project’s research and development goals. It also served as a visually compelling tool that connected users to the essence of Europe’s forest ecosystems and the ongoing efforts to preserve and innovate within them.
